The Healing Properties of Urine
Have you been told that your urine is nothing more than a body waste? Then you might be surprised to learn that it has been considered a medicine, beauty aid, and fountain of youth for thousands of years.
At the very beginning of our lives, the amniotic fluid that we are bathed in is primarily urine! Before we are born, we drink well over half a litre per day of this liquid, and even breathe it in. Scars disappear after an operation on a fetus in the womb due to the healing capacities of the urea in the amniotic fluid.
References to the use of urine for health is found in the Bible, Hinduism, Ayurvedic tradition, Homeopathy, and various countries around the world. The French customarily soaked stockings in urine and wrapped them around their necks in order to cure strep throat, and aristocratic French women in the 17th century reportedly bathed in urine to beautify their skin; in Sierra Madre, Mexico, farmers prepare poultices for broken bones by having a child urinate into a bowl of powdered charred corn and applying that to the skin; in ancient Rome, urine was used for teeth-whitening during the Renaissance; and the Chinese treat wounds by sprinkling urine on them.
So if urine is so good for you, why does your body excrete it?
Inside the kidneys, the blood is continuously filtered through a huge system of minute tubules which sift out excess water, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, salts, and hundreds of other elements including vital antibodies, urea and uric acid. The kidneys excrete a portion of urine as a way of removing certain key elements in your blood that are simply not needed at a specific point in time. Urine is entirely sterile after secretion and has an antiseptic effect.
So why reapply it to the body? Urine is a sort of information card which registers the condition of the blood. When that information is carried back to the body, the body can consequently react according to this feedback. The body is an extremely advanced and intelligent system.
There are many famous people that use urine therapy, including the actress Sarah Miles for allergies, baseball player Moises Alou for calluses on his hands, Juan Manuel Marquez the boxer for nutrition, and Madonna for Athlete’s foot.
